Turning Innovation Into Leadership Impact
The UC Berkeley Haas Executive MBA curriculum is designed for leaders who want to expand their strategic perspective while continuing to lead in their organizations.
Because EMBA students remain active in their roles, the classroom becomes a place where real leadership challenges meet new ideas. Students bring current decisions, organizational dynamics, and strategic questions into discussions with faculty and peers who are navigating similar responsibilities.
This exchange creates a powerful learning cycle. Ideas from class can inform decisions at work immediately, while experiences from the workplace return to the classroom to deepen discussion. Over time, this feedback loop helps leaders build the judgment and perspective needed to guide organizations through change and move business forward.
This dynamic experience means classmates often become trusted advisors. Discussions regularly draw on the experience of executives leading teams, launching initiatives, and navigating complex organizational decisions across industries. Many EMBA students describe their cohort as one of the most valuable parts of the program—a network of peers they continue to consult long after graduation.
Four Curricular Pillars, Full Executive Capability
Learning in the UC Berkeley Haas EMBA program is designed to mirror how leadership decisions actually happen. Concepts explored in class are tested against real situations brought in by students, creating discussions grounded in current business challenges across industries.
Four pillars of strength serve as the foundation for the EMBA curriculum:
- Leadership
- Strategy
- Entrepreneurship
- Finance
With this executive toolkit, you move organizations forward in measurable ways.

Experiential Learning in the Executive MBA Program
At UC Berkeley Haas, 25 percent of your learning happens through experiential field immersions—week-long deep dives at the end of each term exploring leadership communication, innovation, entrepreneurship, global business capability, and the intersection of business and public policy.
Applying new ideas in real organizational settings helps leaders build the human edge needed to navigate complexity. Through rigorous coursework, collaborative discussion, and real-world application, students strengthen the judgment and perspective required to guide organizations through change and help move business forward.

Global Learning Opportunities
In addition to the required international field immersion, many students choose to participate in GNAM (Global Network for Advanced Management). GNAM allows students to study internationally at a member school, joining other students from around the world for a week of lectures, discussions, field trips, and immersion in another culture. There are a range of classes and locations to choose from. Students can also take GNAM's online classes taught by business faculty at member schools.
